My research is broadly based on 19thc France and Belgium, with many publications in this area. Most recently (2022), I've published an edited volume with Bloomsbury Domestic Space in France and Belgium, as well as two special issues on 19thc Belgian Interiors and on Intimacy with the 19thc journal, Dix-Neuf (2019; 2022).

I'm an expert on French Impressionism and I'm currently working on a monograph on Berthe Morisot, contracted with Routledge called Morisot’s Modernism and Impressionist Art, for which I was awarded the 2021 Society of French Studies Research Prize Fellowship. I have supervised many PhDs on art and literature and have an increasing number of PhD students working on gender and Impressionist art.
