Dr Leonie Hannan

School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy and Politics

Dr Hannan's research focuses on the social and cultural history of Britain, Ireland and North America in the period c.1650-1850. She has published a number of books on gender, life-writing, material culture and the home as a site of enquiry. Hannan also has expertise in the field of public history. She can support projects on early modern communications and relationships, domestic space, family life, material lives, gender and power, and intellectual life.

Public outreach & key achievements

Dr Hannan is a member of the steering committee for The Centre for Public History at Queen’s:
/research-centres/CentreforPublicHistory/ and has a long track record of working with museums and heritage sites to develop public engagement projects and events on historical subjects.

She coordinates the MA History/Public History internship scheme and has good connections with many NI heritage organisations.
