Dr Shane Brighton

School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy and Politics

Dr Brighton researches the field of relations between armed conflict, knowledge, communication and society. He has written on the philosophy and sociology of war, terrorism and contemporary strategy. This work has particular relevance for understanding how societal dynamics relate to armed force, foreign and security policy.

His current work addresses British efforts to manage and shape overseas - particularly American - perceptions of Northern Ireland. It engages current debates in public diplomacy, strategic narrative and informational aspects of conflict.
