- The nature of citizenship and belonging
- The history of male sexuality
- The place of the past, and especially of historical re-enactment

- I have appeared on BBC Radio and podcasts talking about the history of sexuality in Belfast
- I am the Principal Investigator of a major AHRC-funded project, 'Queer Northern Ireland: Sexuality before Liberation' -
- I previously led an AHRC-funded project on the history of the Mayflower in Britain -
