Dr Hamilton's research interests are in the field of Cancer Epidemiology, with a focus on early-onset cancers in adults aged under 50. Her research to date has been in colorectal cancer and oesophageal adenocarcinoma, but she is open to projects in other disease areas.

She uses a variety of epidemiological approaches to research, including analysis of population-based registers, existing cohort studies, systematic review methodology and qualitative research.
